Darbar Sahib Hukamnaama



ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ 
सोरठि महला १ ॥
Soraṯẖ mėhlā 1.
Sorat'h, First Mehl:
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਤਰੇ 
जिन्ही सतिगुरु सेविआ पिआरे तिन्ह के साथ तरे ॥
Jinĥī saṯgur sevi▫ā pi▫āre ṯinĥ ke sāth ṯare.
Those who serve the True Guru, O Beloved, their companions are saved as well.
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਹਰੇ 
तिन्हा ठाक न पाईऐ पिआरे अम्रित रसन हरे ॥
Ŧinĥā ṯẖāk na pā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre amriṯ rasan hare.
No one blocks their way, O Beloved, and the Lord's Ambrosial Nectar is on their tongue.
ਬੂਡੇ ਭਾਰੇ ਭੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ॥੧॥
बूडे भारे भै बिना पिआरे तारे नदरि करे ॥१॥
Būde bẖāre bẖai binā pi▫āre ṯāre naḏar kare. ||1||
Without the Fear of God, they are so heavy that they sink and drown, O Beloved; but the Lord, casting His Glance of Grace, carries them across. ||1||
ਭੀ ਤੂਹੈ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਲਾਹ 
भी तूहै सालाहणा पिआरे भी तेरी सालाह ॥
Bẖī ṯūhai salāhṇā pi▫āre bẖī ṯerī sālāh.
I ever praise You, O Beloved, I ever sing Your Praises.
ਵਿਣੁ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਭੈ ਡੁਬੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੰਧੀ ਪਾਇ ਕਹਾਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ 
विणु बोहिथ भै डुबीऐ पिआरे कंधी पाइ कहाह ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
viṇ bohith bẖai dubī▫ai pi▫āre kanḏẖī pā▫e kahāh. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the boat, one is drowned in the sea of fear, O Beloved; how can I reach the distant shore? ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ 
सालाही सालाहणा पिआरे दूजा अवरु न कोइ ॥
Sālāhī salāhṇā pi▫āre ḏūjā avar na ko▫e.
I praise the Praiseworthy Lord, O Beloved; there is no other one to praise.
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਸੇ ਭਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ 
मेरे प्रभ सालाहनि से भले पिआरे सबदि रते रंगु होइ ॥
Mere parabẖ sālāhan se bẖale pi▫āre sabaḏ raṯe rang ho▫e.
Those who praise my God are good, O Beloved; they are imbued with the Word of the Shabad, and His Love.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਸੁ ਲੈ ਤਤੁ ਵਿਲੋਇ ॥੨॥
तिस की संगति जे मिलै पिआरे रसु लै ततु विलोइ ॥२॥
Ŧis kī sangaṯ je milai pi▫āre ras lai ṯaṯ vilo▫e. ||2||
If I join them, O Beloved, I can churn the essence and so find joy. ||2||
ਪਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਸਾਚ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ 
पति परवाना साच का पिआरे नामु सचा नीसाणु ॥
Paṯ parvānā sācẖ kā pi▫āre nām sacẖā nīsāṇ.
The gateway to honor is Truth, O Beloved; it bears the Insignia of the True Name of the Lord.
ਆਇਆ ਲਿਖਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ 
आइआ लिखि लै जावणा पिआरे हुकमी हुकमु पछाणु ॥
Ā▫i▫ā likẖ lai jāvṇā pi▫āre hukmī hukam pacẖẖāṇ.
We come into the world, and we depart, with our destiny written and pre-ordained, O Beloved; realize the Command of the Commander.
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
गुर बिनु हुकमु न बूझीऐ पिआरे साचे साचा ताणु ॥३॥
Gur bin hukam na būjẖī▫ai pi▫āre sācẖe sācẖā ṯāṇ. ||3||
Without the Guru, this Command is not understood, O Beloved; True is the Power of the True Lord. ||3||
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਿੰਮਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਉਦਰ ਮਝਾਰਿ 
हुकमै अंदरि निमिआ पिआरे हुकमै उदर मझारि ॥
Hukmai anḏar nimmi▫ā pi▫āre hukmai uḏar majẖār.
By His Command, we are conceived, O Beloved, and by His Command, we grow in the womb.
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਊਧਉ ਸਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਰਿ 
हुकमै अंदरि जमिआ पिआरे ऊधउ सिर कै भारि ॥
Hukmai anḏar jammi▫ā pi▫āre ūḏẖa▫o sir kai bẖār.
By His Command, we are born, O Beloved, head-first, and upside-down.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਲੈ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
गुरमुखि दरगह जाणीऐ पिआरे चलै कारज सारि ॥४॥
Gurmukẖ ḏargėh jāṇī▫ai pi▫āre cẖalai kāraj sār. ||4||
The Gurmukh is honored in the Court of the Lord, O Beloved; he departs after resolving his affairs. ||4||
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜਾਦੋ ਜਾਇ 
हुकमै अंदरि आइआ पिआरे हुकमे जादो जाइ ॥
Hukmai anḏar ā▫i▫ā pi▫āre hukme jāḏo jā▫e.
By His Command, one comes into the world, O Beloved, and by His Will, he goes.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਚਲਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਲਹੈ ਸਜਾਇ 
हुकमे बंन्हि चलाईऐ पिआरे मनमुखि लहै सजाइ ॥
Hukme banėh cẖalā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre manmukẖ lahai sajā▫e.
By His Will, some are bound and gagged and driven away, O Beloved; the self-willed manmukhs suffer their punishment.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੫॥
हुकमे सबदि पछाणीऐ पिआरे दरगह पैधा जाइ ॥५॥
Hukme sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇī▫ai pi▫āre ḏargėh paiḏẖā jā▫e. ||5||
By His Command, the Word of the Shabad, is realized, O Beloved, and one goes to the Court of the Lord robed in honor. ||5||
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੋਇ 
हुकमे गणत गणाईऐ पिआरे हुकमे हउमै दोइ ॥
Hukme gaṇaṯ gaṇā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre hukme ha▫umai ḏo▫e.
By His Command, some accounts are accounted for, O Beloved; by His Command, some suffer in egotism and duality.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਭਵੈ ਭਵਾਈਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਵਗਣਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਇ 
हुकमे भवै भवाईऐ पिआरे अवगणि मुठी रोइ ॥
Hukme bẖavai bẖavā▫ī▫ai pi▫āre avgaṇ muṯẖī ro▫e.
By His Command, one wanders in reincarnation, O Beloved; deceived by sins and demerits, he cries out in his suffering.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ਸਾਹ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥
हुकमु सिञापै साह का पिआरे सचु मिलै वडिआई होइ ॥६॥
Hukam siñāpai sāh kā pi▫āre sacẖ milai vadi▫ā▫ī ho▫e. ||6||
If he comes to realize the Command of the Lord's Will, O Beloved, then he is blessed with Truth and Honor. ||6||
ਆਖਣਿ ਅਉਖਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ 
आखणि अउखा आखीऐ पिआरे किउ सुणीऐ सचु नाउ ॥
Ākẖaṇ a▫ukẖā ākẖī▫ai pi▫āre ki▫o suṇī▫ai sacẖ nā▫o.
It is so difficult to speak it, O Beloved; how can we speak, and hear, the True Name?
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ 
जिन्ही सो सालाहिआ पिआरे हउ तिन्ह बलिहारै जाउ ॥
Jinĥī so salāhi▫ā pi▫āre ha▫o ṯinĥ balihārai jā▫o.
I am a sacrifice to those who praise the Lord, O Beloved.
ਨਾਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥੭॥
नाउ मिलै संतोखीआं पिआरे नदरी मेलि मिलाउ ॥७॥
Nā▫o milai sanṯokẖī▫āʼn pi▫āre naḏrī mel milā▫o. ||7||
I have obtained the Name, and I am satisfied, O Beloved; by His Grace, I am united in His Union. ||7||
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਜੇ ਥੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਸਵਾਣੀ ਧਾਰਿ 
काइआ कागदु जे थीऐ पिआरे मनु मसवाणी धारि ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kāgaḏ je thī▫ai pi▫āre man masvāṇī ḏẖār.
If my body were to become the paper, O Beloved, and my mind the inkpot;
ਲਲਤਾ ਲੇਖਣਿ ਸਚ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਲਿਖਹੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ 
ललता लेखणि सच की पिआरे हरि गुण लिखहु वीचारि ॥
Lalṯā lekẖaṇ sacẖ kī pi▫āre har guṇ likẖahu vīcẖār.
and if my tongue became the pen, O Beloved, I would write, and contemplate, the Glorious Praises of the True Lord.
ਧਨੁ ਲੇਖਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਲਿਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੮॥੩॥
धनु लेखारी नानका पिआरे साचु लिखै उरि धारि ॥८॥३॥
Ḏẖan lekẖārī nānkā pi▫āre sācẖ likẖai ur ḏẖār. ||8||3||
Blessed is that scribe, O Nanak, who writes the True Name, and enshrines it within his heart. ||8||3||
