A Piece Unique from the World- Bhai Vir Singh Ji

Bhai Vir Singh Ji, a poet with a tender heart and eye for divine beauty wrote this poem to describe the eternal beauty of Kashmir.  Amidst the devastation, there thrives a beauty captured between the highness of the Himalayas and the depths of the lakes.

A brief synopsis of the poem, based on my limited interpretation is as follows:

A Piece Unique from the World

Mother Nature was spotted in the heavens,
Playing in the village of beauty,
Surrounded by happiness.

Running, she filled her fist
What came in it.
Mountains, hills, and valleys
Beautified within the field.

Springs, creeks, streams, lakes,
Like small oceans.
Cool shades, sweet winds
Beautiful jungles-gardens.

Ice, rain, sunshine, and clouds
Lovable seasons.
Heavenly sights came along
All within the fistful.

The beauty stood in the sky
Aimed towards the ground.
She threw, opening her tightened grip
Everything towards the bottom.

The place on this Earth where
The contents of the fist fell.
There became "Kashmir"
A piece unique from the world.

It is earth, but the hint of sky
Is reflected in it's beauty.
The nectars, tastes, and sights of the Earth
Are licks of secret heaven.
